Easter egg painting fun for kids

Easter is on the corner and you can have fun with your kids while creating these beautiful coloured Easter Eggs.
Easter Eggs

Easter Egg paint preparation:


Before painting, wash the eggs thoroughly with detergent and then rinse

Then wash your hands thoroughly too!

Easter Egg  Cooking:

If you want to eat the eggs, cook them further then the average. (At least half an hour. )
Add 4 tablespoons of salt to the 1 l of water!

Easter Egg Colouring;

The eggs may be coloured or traditionally prepared food colouring, natural solutions.
If you want to eat the eggs, you may want to create natural dyes.

The longer the eggs leave the colouring solution, the deeper and longer lasting colour is achieved.

If you are using food colouring in a bowl, stir 1 / 4 teaspoon of food colouring 3/4 cup hot water and 1 tablespoon vinegar. The eggs should be placed in the colours.
Let the Easter Eggs to soak until the desired color is reached (You even can leave the Easter Eggs in the refrigerator for all night).

Once the Easter Eggs are dried polish them with soft oily cloth.


The eggs can be coloured hot and cold if you use natural colouring solutions:

Natural Easter Egg colouring solution:

These Easter Egg colours can be obtained: 



  • Pink:Place the boiled eggs in cooled rose hip tea 
  • Auburn: Cook onion for half an hour in water, filter it, and then put the hot cooked eggs to the water
  • Purple: Do the same with red onions 
  • Bordeaux: soak the eggs in beetroot juice
  • Blue: soak the eggs in red cabbage juice 
  • Yellow: pale yellow color can be achieved with orange peel. Cook in the orange peel for 20 minutes then add the eggs. 
  • Green: put the eggs into the cooled spinach juice (30 minutes after cooking). 


Add vinegar or lemon juice to bind the pigment in the eggshell.
